Before you apply to the ring you are trying to join, . I'm not trying to make you jump through hoops, it's just that
applications are going to be few and far between, especially given the nature of the rings in question.
Mr.Cherry, while he remains topical because of the way his libel has lingered online and because of what
his story tells us about how the norms of online behavior fail to what they need to, has reportedly been
dead since 2003. This may cut into his ability to find new victims. Mr.Skirvin, while he is still with us,
doesn't seem to be adding any new victims to his "Killfile Dungeon", limiting the pool of potential
applicants to Killfile Dungeon Rebuttal Ring to a large handful of people, most of whom seem to have
vanished from online. (That ring is only open to those who are personally mentioned in the Killfile
Dungeon, who have written rebuttal pages).
Logging in every day to check for applications that might arrive once every few years would be
maddening, but so is waiting a few years to have a ring application approved, so the system I have set up
is an attempt to spare us both a bit of frustration. What you do is join my ring management homelist. Mention
that you'd like to join the ring, mention which ring you'd like to join because I run more than one of
those, and give the url for your site. Keep the commentary limited to that. You seriously do need to do
this, because if you just decide to do your own thing, ignore instructions and plow ahead, the system will
let you fill out the application, but it will refuse to let you submit it, putting your work to waste. I
keep the ring closed most of the time, and one of Ringsurf's regrettable quirks is that this is how the
application form works on a closed ring.
I'll reject your message, but check out your site. Nothing negative should be read into the message
rejection; if one of these is the ring for you, I suspect that you feel the same way I do about these
topics - you'd like to get your side of the story out, and then just be done with it. Talking about what
somebody is doing with a cooking or photgraphy site can be fun, but as for the subject of what a troll
has been up to, that's just something we have to deal with. Some of us can remember a time when the fun
was most of what the Internet was about, before the flamewars coopted the medium, and would like to get
back to that time. I've told my (admittedly very limited) membership that this is what I'm going to try
to get back to, and I hope you can respect the fact that I intend, as always, to be a man of my word. If
you've made the request and I've told you that I've opened the ring for you, please click on the name of
the ring you're trying to join and we can continue.
